Chapter 1 discusses living in an illusion, buildi

ng "invisible walls," and sinking in quicksand. I connect this to the "12-Month Mirage" and the "Great Blind Spot."I

n this Chapter, I confess to a hard truth: For years, I lived in a comfortable illusion. I built invisible walls and deceived myself into thinking I was in control, while in reality, I was sinking in a quicksand of my own making. I knew what I needed to do, but I wasn't willing to do it.I see this exact same "Great Blind Spot" in organizations every single day.

Leadership teams deceive themselves with the "12-Month Mirage"—the complacent belief that a distant deadline gives them plenty of time to catch up later. They fall into "Annualized Lethargy," confusing being busy with being productive and mistaking mere movement for actual achievement. To be RUTHLESSLY HONEST, you don't have a knowledge problem; you have an execution problem. Great ideas are dying in the space between the boardroom and the front line.

Growth cannot happen in the dark. It's time to tear down your corporate illusions and compress your timeline. If you had to hit your annual goals in the next 13 weeks to save your business, what busywork would you stop doing today?

Ruthlessly Honest Question: Are you operating in reality, or are you trapped in the 12-Month Mirage?
